# How do I create a Test out of stock product and receive a back in stock alert?


# Part A: How do I create a test out of stock product?

**Step 1**: Go to the "Products" menu on the top-left in the Shopify admin.

**Step 2**: Click "Add Product" on the top right to create a test product.

**Step 3**: Add all of the product information that's mandatory.

**Step 4**: Scroll to the "Inventory" section and make sure that:
* "Track quantity" is enabled
* Inventory quantity is zero
* "Continue selling when out of stock" is NOT enabled

**Step 5**: Save your changes and click "Preview" to see this product on your store.
 You should be able to see the Notify me button on this sold out page.

# Part B: Receiving a back in stock alert

Step 1: Open a sold out product (See Step 5 from the previous section: Part A above)

Step 2: Click the Notify me button, add your email and subscribe to a back in stock alert.

Step 3: To receive a back in stock alert, open the same sold out product from the Shopify admin, and add some inventory to the product. You will automatically receive a back in stock alert in a few minutes.
