Why hide the Notify me button if a product won't come back in stock?

Imagine this: You loved a product on an ecommerce brand website but it's sold-out. You see a "Notify me when available" button on that page, and you quickly add your email/phone number to get notified when that product is back in stock.

If the product comes back after a few months and you need the product any more, it's still a positive experience when you get the back in stock notification. You know that if you asked to be notified, you will hear from the brand sometime in the future.

But what if you ask to be notified, you keep waiting, but you never hear from the brand? That's a negative customer experience.

If you hadn't seen the Notify me button, you would have moved on from the sold-out page and assumed that the product won't come back. But because you saw the Notify me button, you have an implicit expectation that the product is likely to come back sometime in the future. That's why, it's a good idea to hide the Notify me button for products that are never coming back in stock.

The solution: Hide the Notify me button for products that are never coming back in stock
Out of all your sold-out products, you may have some products which will never come back in stock. It's important to hide the Notify me button for those products. How? Install our Shopify App, upgrade to a Starter/Premium plan and go to Settings from the App menu. Scroll to the Configuration section to hide the Notify me button for specific products that are never coming back in stock.

Note: Minimum inventory threshold is only available in the "Starter" plan and beyond. This feature is not available in the Free plan.
